Mo Yanzhi’s mood was irrelevant to the fans; they were too high on CP. There were many sweet interactions between Li Shu and Wei Yangyun in the show, which was enough to make CP fans fall into carnival.
Wei Yangyun’s fans knew his temperament very well, so they were different from fans of other celebrities. They loved to ship their idol with others. Last season, there was a CP between Wei Yangyun and Ming Xuan, and many CP fans came this season just for this pairing, hoping to get more sugar.
On a certain private island, things were busy. Li Shu was oblivious to the things online, let alone that a certain man was now simmering with anger after watching the show and had nowhere to vent.
He wanted to call Li Shu but was afraid of bothering him at work and making him unhappy, so he only sulk by himself.
Wei Yangyun’s new album had six songs in total, and Li Shu collaborated on only one of them. Originally, the filming for this song was scheduled after the recording of “I’m Not a Star,” but due to some circumstances, it had to be done earlier.
The shooting location was a castle on the island. The private jet landed not far from the castle, and upon disembarking, there were specialized cars waiting at the airport.
Li Shu took a short nap in the car and felt refreshed. His assistant carried his luggage behind him. He didn’t bring much; the costumes and props were all at the castle. So both Li Shu and Wei Yangyun travelled light.
After a drive of about ten minutes, they reached their destination. As they got off the car, Wei Yangyun waved off his manager and came to Li Shu. “I spent some time vacationing here not long ago, and it was in this castle that I wrote this song.”
Li Shu looked up at the castle. It was located halfway up the mountain, its dark red hue looking striking against the setting sunset and creating a magnificent sight.
“This castle has been here on the island for a long time. When my father bought it, the previous owner of the island begged him not to demolish it, and my father agreed to his request.” Wei Yangyun stood shoulder to shoulder with Li Shu in front of the castle, slowly narrating its history.
“I thought that since the inspiration for this song came from here, it’s only fitting to complete its MV here.”
“This place is beautiful. No wonder you could create such beautiful music here,” Li Shu praised.
This wasn’t an exaggeration. From a high vantage point, the island looked like a gem embedded in the azure sea. With its picturesque landscapes that were preserved in their natural state since this was a private island, it exuded a unique charm crafted by nature itself.
The castle had already been prepared, with staff bustling around. Everything was ready and waiting for the two protagonists.
The director for the MV shoot was the famous Joseph, he had filmed MVs for many international stars. He and Wei Yangyun had collaborated numerous times before.
Normally, Li Shu should have met with Joseph before the shoot, but due to the last-minute change in plans, there wasn’t enough time. Wei Yangyun took charge and skipped this step, diving straight into the shoot.
Director Joseph was a middle-aged man with a beard and fair skin. He was dressed stylishly, and didn’t look like a typical director but more like an artist.
“Oh, Wei, you’re late,” Joseph raised his wrist watch exaggeratedly.
“Sorry, Joseph, we got delayed on the way,” Wei Yangyun was familiar with the director and knew he wouldn’t get angry over this matter. He then turned to Li Shu beside him. “Look, I brought the attire you wanted for Lu Ya. What do you think?”
Lu Ya was the character Li Shu would play in the MV—an angel seduced by demons, once bright and pure, he later got tempted by darkness.
This was a character with great contrast. The appearance before and after the fall can be distinguished by different makeup, but the inner temperament depends entirely on personal interpretation.
Joseph was initially inclined towards casting a Westerner for the role, considering that angels and demons were figures from Western mythology. Casting an Easterner might break the immersion, which was intolerable to someone like Joseph who pursued perfection. However, knowing Wei Yangyun’s dedication to his music, he decided to meet the person recommended by him first.
Admittedly, the young man’s appearance was flawless. In terms of looks, he passed the test 100%. Especially those dark and bright eyes, they made it feel like you are staring into an endless expanse of the night sky.
“I trust Wei’s vision. Mr. Li appearance is perfect,” Joseph said, satisfied with his appearance, “Alice, take Mr. Li to change clothes.”
Joseph looked the young man up and down. There was always a faint smile on his lips. He did not show any discomfort due to the eyes seizing him up, and Joseph nodded with satisfaction.
Qi Ran was chatting with Wei Yangyun’s manager on the side, while occasionally glancing over at Li Shu’s side. Thankfully, Li Shu didn’t disappoint him this time.
Li Shu went to change clothes. Wei Yangyun wanted to follow, but was stopped by his manager, who whispered, “Why are you going there to watch him change clothes? Control yourself a bit, little ancestor.”
Wei Yangyun’s selective face-control had always been a headache for his manager. He had to endure seeing his artist trending with other male stars every day. He was close to developing a strong and invulnerable heart.
Forty minutes later, the door of the dressing room slowly opened, and Alice’s voice filled with excitement came out, “His Highness Lu Ya has arrived!”
Looking over, they saw a young man in a long, white robe walking over. Soft golden hair cascaded down to his hips, casually draped behind him. He wore minimal adornments, with only a blue sapphire pendant hanging at his brow. His face was lightly made up, with a hint of gold eyeshadow that shimmered under the lights.
Everything about Li Shu was subtle except for his dazzling golden hair and the light gold eyeshadow. He wore all pale colors, and even his eyes were silver-white, but he didn’t appear dull in the slightest. Instead, he exuded an ethereal elegance, like snow-capped mountains, distant and unattainable.
Everyone was stunned. At that moment, they seemed to have seen the true arrival of a divine child in the mortal world, and they couldn’t harbor even a trace of disrespect.
“Lu Ya, this is my ideal Lu Ya! How absolutely perfect!” Joseph was the first to recover. He looked at the young man in white who was walking towards him step by step with fiery eyes.
Wei Yangyun also snapped out of his daze, blinking in residual shock. He thought Li Shu was very suitable for the role of Lu Ya, but he didn’t expect Li Shu to give him such a grand surprise.
He took a few steps forward, standing three paces away from Li Shu, his tone still tinged with lingering surprise. “Lu Ya?”
At that moment, the person standing in front of him was no longer his new friend Li Shu but the aloof Lu Ya, the noble Son of God, a figure beyond reach.
Li Shu nodded slightly. His expression was aloof and unattainable, and even a simple nod made him seem unapproachable.
The hall fell silent. Everyone was holding their breath, feeling like they had witnessed the arrival of a divine being. It was only when Li Shu gave a faint smile and shed his “divinity” that everyone snapped back to reality.
“Oh my God, that’s so lifelike! M heart was in my throat. I was both excited and scared.”
“Same here. My heart hasn’t settled down yet. This Chinese actor is amazing.”
“If this is Lu Ya before the fall, how do you think he’d look after the fall?”
The staff gathered around, discussing in hushed tones. Obviously, Joseph was also curious about this question. He walked over to Li Shu and asked, “Li, could you show me Lu Ya after the fall? You’ve surprised me too much.”
He then turned and shouted, “Alice, take our dear Lu Ya to change into another costume.”
“Wait.” Li Shu raised his head and stopped them. He then looked directly into Joseph’s eyes. Although it was still the same attire, he gave off a completely different feeling.
If the previous look was “divine,” then Li Shu now exuded a sense of darkness. Still dressed in white, he no longer appeared like a noble and pure divine child. With just a glance from those eyes, one would feel a chill rising from the soles of their feet. The eyes held a faint smile and were slightly narrowed, lazy and seductive, they tempted one to fall into darkness. A subtle aura of darkness surrounded him, like an indistinct mist, enticing people to explore.
“Oh, my God…” Joseph couldn’t help but whisper in awe. The surprise this young man brought him was truly overwhelming.
“Click!” The sound of the shutter broke the silence. Li Shu relaxed his aura, and the feeling of being Lu Ya disappeared completely.
“I’m sorry, I couldn’t resist,” the blond man holding the camera said apologetically, flashing a sheepish smile as he looked at everyone.
Joseph walked over to him, glanced at the photos he took, and patted his shoulder. “It’s okay. Just make sure not to leak the photos. Oh, and remember to send me a copy later.”
“Okay, Director.”
Li Shu’s performance left Joseph ecstatic. “Wow, Wei, you’ve really brought us a treasure!”
“That’s right! And who recommended him, mmm?” Wei Yangyun beamed with pride.
Qin Ran also walked up to Li Shu, his eyes complicated. “I was thinking of signing you up for some acting lessons, but it seems unnecessary now. You did really great.”
With the actors performing well and the team working efficiently, the MV shoot progressed faster than expected.
While they were fully immersed in the shoot, they were unaware that the domestic internet was blowing up because of them.
It all started when a big V posted a series of photos late at night—pictures of Wei Yangyun and Li Shu interacting. Initially, the photos didn’t cause much stir until someone reposted and highlighted one of them, claiming that Wei Yangyun and Li Shu had taken a private jet together after filming “I’m Not a Star,” suggesting that the two were already together and insinuating that Li Shu could participate in the show because of Wei Yangyun.
Then, a series of “evidence” followed, seemingly confirming that the two were together.
It began with the frenzy of CP fans. Shipping CPs was trending at the time, so no one realized anything was wrong until some trolls came up and steered the narrative in a negative direction.
When Mo Yanzhi saw the news, #Li Shu Rides Wei Yangyun’s Coattails to Success# was already trending. Staring at the screen for a moment, he pushed back his office chair and stood up, dialing a number. “I want to know who did this, and then kill the chicken to scare the monkeys!”
When he opened the chat with Li Shu, Mo Yanzhi’s gaze became fierce: I won’t let anyone hurt you!
