During dinner time, the light of the candles cast onto the sumptuous food couldn’t help but arouse a desire to taste it. There was nothing else besides the sound of cutlery colliding on the table, making the magnificent scene seem somewhat solemn.

At this moment, the positions of the three people at the table were also quite interesting. Mo Yi and Wang Zihe sat facing each other at the rectangular table, while Mo Jian sat next to Mo Yi. This scene seemed somewhat weird, with Wang Zihe looking like an outsider watching the two brothers sitting close together.

Of course, he himself didn’t feel anything wrong or awkward; he simply thought that this position was farthest from Mo Jian. However, compared to the two sitting calmly at opposite ends of the long table, Mo Jian felt that this dinner was like torture. He mechanically put food in his mouth without tasting any of its deliciousness.

“I’m done eating,” Mo Jian said, wiping the corners of his mouth and getting up from his chair to leave the dining hall.

He never lifted his head through out the whole meal, keeping his eyes lowered from beginning to end.

After watching Mo Jian leave, Mo Yi suddenly raised the red wine by his side and gestured towards Wang Zihe in the distance, his lips curling up with a mysterious smile.

Seeing this, Wang Zihe, who had no expression on his face before, couldn’t help but smile. He also picked up the wine glass next to him and made a toast to Mo Yi in the air. Then the two of them drank a sip of the fragrant red wine at the same time.

This silent toast and drink seemed very tacit.

After finishing their meal, the two of them went to take a walk in the garden.

As they walked side by side on the winding path outdoors, Wang Zihe sighed as he looked at the trees dotted with starry lights. “I’m planning to go back to B City in a couple of days.”

“Is it because of work?” Mo Yi turned his head to look at him.

“No, it’s not… I…” His voice gradually became smaller, so small that it was completely covered by the cicadas around them.

“Is it because you’ve grown tired of me?” Mo Yi asked, looking into his eyes.

“You know it’s not that.” Wang Zihe avoided his gaze and continued to look at the faint fluorescence on the trees in the distance.

“But you don’t like me either, do you?” Mo Yi continued to ask.

“…”

However, Mo Yi didn’t ask further and the response he received was the annoying chirping of cicadas.

“I really dislike your brother.” Wang Zihe replied after a moment of silence.

“I know, so you want to leave?” Mo Yi suddenly stopped walking.

“Yes, that’s one of the reasons.” Wang Zihe suddenly turned his head to look into Mo Yi’s eyes. His bright pupils became even more crystal-clear under the yellow fluorescence.

“Why are you running away?” Mo Yi frowned at him.

“How can you call it running away? I’m just leaving a place I don’t like.” Wang Zihe’s expression turned cold.

On this hot summer night, a gust of wind blew by, bringing not coolness but a damp and sticky heat. Wang Zihe’s palms were also sweating, whether due to the weather or Mo Yi’s words, he didn’t know.

“You should know whether you’re running away or not,” Mo Yi’s sharp gaze seemed able to penetrate through people’s surfaces and reach their hearts directly. It was too sharp and penetrating that Wang Zihe felt all his thoughts and secrets were exposed before him, making him feel naked and vulnerable.

“I refuse to answer.” Wang Zihe unconsciously took a deep breath and looked at Mo Yi.

“Up to you.” Mo Yi smoothed his furrowed brows.

After speaking, he took his hand and turned to walk towards the villa.

“Wait, what are you going to do?” Wang Zihe was startled by his sudden action.

“I have decided to ‘compensate’ you properly before you leave,” Mo Yi turned his head and changed his serious expression from earlier to a gentle smile as he spoke to Wang Zihe.

“What compensation? Wait, slow down,” Wang Zihe looked puzzled.

Mo Jian stood on the third floor and watched the two of them pulling and tugging in the garden. His fists involuntarily clenched and his eyes grew darker. It was obvious that since this morning when Wang Zihe showed that strange smile and said he knew him and his brother, his forced action towards Wang Zihe had been exposed. They have been ignoring him until now, but this only made him more confused.
