Note: This is part 3 of chapter 139 according to raws.
An immense amount of power was released from the bronze mirror and it covered Yu Ning’s entire body.
“You and I weren’t supposed to cross paths, forget me, forget all memories of mysterious items.” Ji Mingxia said in his mind. His gaze rested on Yu Ning’s face and he said with great reluctance, “Farewell, Yu Ning.”
He let go of the bronze mirror and it fell back at Yu Ning’s waist.
The moment the bronze mirror fell, the last light in Ji Mingxia’s eyes dispersed.
An immense energy came out of his body and a force erupted with him at the center. The surroundings were silent for a second before an invisible surge of energy pulsed out in a circular pattern, flattening wherever it reached.
The rumble of the earth breaking apart was heard all around, and dust covered the entire mountain range like a dark cloud, covering the entire area for over a day.
When the dust cleared, the original mountain peak had disappeared, leaving behind only a terrible deep crater, in the centre of which Yu Ning lay quietly, as if in a deep and sweet dream.
A few hours later, Pei Yuan, Yan Guang and the others rushed to the middle of the deep pit.
All the mysterious items in the world had disappeared, and Pei Yuan and the others originally thought that Ji Mingxia was still alive. However, they didn’t expect to find only Yu Ning at the scene.
“Where’s Ji Mingxia?”
“Has he left?”
“Impossible, Yu Ning is here, there’s no way he could have left.”
“Then he’s dead?”
The special energy in mysterious items had the ability to interfere with equipment, just one mysterious item could block any detection, not to mention the countless mysterious items that gathered here, basically, no one dared to approach the entire mountain range.
It was only when all mysterious items were gone that the satellites started scanning the entire area and it was finally determined that Ji Mingxia had disappeared.
“He succeeded! He took all the mysterious items with him and left this world…” Pei Yuan muttered.
The scene fell silent for a while, no one expected that such a world-wide crisis would end up getting perfectly resolved by Ji Mingxia, a seemingly ordinary person.
There were countless mysterious items in this world and although Pei Yuan’s ancestor had collected some and helped to make Ji Mingxia’s operation less difficult, he had taken in such a large number of mysterious items.
He was never on the Institute’s list, never attracted anyone’s attention, no one trained him and no one gave him resources.
The crisis reached a point where nothing could be done, and Ji Mingxia had to face it alone, sacrificing himself to save everyone.
“What about this unconscious person?” Someone asked Pei Yuan.
“Ji Mingxia said that if he lives, he will leave with Yu Ning, and if he dies… he will make Yu Ning forget about him.” Pei Yuan thought of Yu Ning and Ji Mingxia’s relationship and couldn’t help but sigh softly. “The problem with the mysterious item is solved, Yu Ning will become an ordinary person like us, let’s take him to the hospital for treatment first.”
The staff put Yu Ning into the ambulance and left, but no one noticed that at a certain moment, the bronze mirror in Yu Ning’s hand moved slightly.
———————–
The moment the energy exploded, Ji Mingxia felt like he was weightless and floated lightly.
Endless power carried his soul into the air and his consciousness felt like it had traveled through time and space.
In that moment, Ji Mingxia saw mountains and rivers, he saw the splendour of the seabed, and the dust and bustle of history.
His gaze went over every corner of this world, saw every face and every detail, all the world’s creatures seemed to be at his fingertips.
He gradually flew higher and higher, bursting out of this space. He saw the vastness of the starry sky, and the eternal and eternal universe.
He drifted for a long time and when he then reached the end of the starry sky, Ji Mingxia seemed to see a man crouching there.
The man seemed to sense Ji Mingxia’s arrival. He jerked his head back and looked at Ji Mingxia in horror.
In the next instant, Ji Mingxia was also taken aback.
For the person in front of him was none other than himself!
No, this person was him, but it wasn’t him either ……
They had the exact same face, but the look in their eyes was different.
“Who are you?” The Ji Mingxia on the other side asked.
Ji Mingxia was stunned, he was just about to answer when a huge suction suddenly pulled his whole body back. Ji Mingxia only felt his body fall through the air and plummeted into an endless abyss.
Ji Mingxia’s body trembled and he suddenly opened his eyes. “Yu Ning!”
Ji Mingxia’s shout was extraordinarily loud in the small dormitory, startling Lin Cheng and Luo Zixuan who turned their heads and looked at him in astonishment.
“Mingxia, are you alright?” Lin Cheng asked.
“It was just a dream, if you still have the means to dream, then it means that there is no problem with the body.” Luo Zixuan said.
Ji Mingxia looked at the two of them blankly. “Why are you two here?”
“Why can’t the two of us be here?” Luo Zixuan asked with a puzzled expression.
Ji Mingxia froze for a couple of seconds, then jerked up from the bed and looked at the bed opposite of his.
He thought he would see Yu Ning’s bed, but all he saw were all sorts of suitcases and clothes piled up haphazardly on the bed.
Ji Mingxia looked at the bed used for keeping luggage and felt it was familiar yet unfamiliar at the same time.
He turned his head and slowly surveyed the entire dormitory, finally resting his gaze on Lin Cheng and Luo Zixuan.
These two people also gave him a familiar and unfamiliar feeling.
“Do you guys know Yu Ning?” Ji Mingxia asked in a daze.
“Yu Ning? Who is that?”
“It sounds like a girl’s name, is it a girl from another class?”
Lin Cheng and Luo Zixuan looked at each other in confusion.
An unspeakable chill swept through his body and Ji Mingxia shivered, “Our provincial top student, the god of learning at H University, my roommate …… Yu Ning .”
Luo Zixuan saw that Ji Mingxia was pale and covered in cold sweat and immediately got worried. He stepped forward and touched Ji Mingxia’s forehead. “Are you sick and confused, why are you saying strange things?”
Ji Mingxia looked at the concern on Luo Zixuan’s face and tears welled up in his eyes as scenes from the past six months flashed through his mind.
He understood it now. Dormitory 502 was still dormitory 502, Lin Cheng was still Lin Cheng, and Luo Zixuan was still Luo Zixuan.
He thought that he was bound to die, but unexpectedly, he ended up surviving.
Only that, he went from the world of fiction and returned to his own world.
His body returned to normal, indicating that the energy from the mysterious items was extinguished during the crossing.
He returned to the normal world, one without mysterious items, without the supernatural events, and at the same time, without Yu Ning, the person he loved the most.
He will never have the chance to meet Yu Ning again…
Lin Cheng and Luo Zixuan had known Ji Mingxia for so long and they had never seen Ji Mingxia cry, so they panicked at once.
“Mingxia, what’s wrong with you, don’t scare me.”
“Are you in pain? We were shocked to see you fall down in the morning but it turned out that you just fell asleep and we carried you to bed ……Why don’t we take you to the school doctor if you’re not feeling well? Or call the teacher?”
Ji Mingxia looked at his two roommates and tried to control his emotions, “I’m fine.”
Luo Zixuan saw that Ji Mingxia wipe away the tears only for them to immediately fall again, and asked with worry, “Are you really okay?”
“I’m fine, I just …… don’t feel well and I’m a bit sleepy, you guys don’t mind me, I’ll just sleep a bit more.”
At this time, the bell rang for class. Luo Zixuan and Lin Cheng were worried, but since were not sick, they had to go to class.
After the two left, Ji Mingxia took out his mobile phone. He hesitated for a few seconds before finally gritting his teeth and opening the novel, wanting to see how the book ended.
But unexpectedly, he could no longer find the novel on his phone.
He was so shocked that he immediately searched the internet, but he could not find any trace of the novel even after searching the entire internet.
The novel that had driven him crazy, just like his days with Yu Ning, seemed to be a figment of his imagination, and when he woke up from his dream, there was no trace of it.
Ji Mingxia stared at his phone blankly, unable to come back to his senses for a long time.
That night, Ji Mingxia fell seriously ill and had a fever for nearly a week before barely recovering.
After falling ill, Ji Mingxia’s entire appearance changed. Not only did he lose a lot of weight in a short period of time, but he also looked much more depressed.
He knew that Lin Cheng and Luo Zixuan were worried, and he wanted to explain several times, but he didn’t know where to start.
He always had a strong ability to self-regulate, and when he encountered something big, he could always fall asleep quickly that night.
Only this time, he couldn’t.
He was not a child, and after a week had passed, Ji Mingxia gradually accepted the reality of the situation, but he just couldn’t bring himself to do it.
He was so disinterested in everything and most of the time, he just wanted to sit alone in a corner and do nothing.
In the evening, Ji Mingxia returned to the dormitory after a long day of classes as usual.
The managing auntie, who was eating some fruit as she caught up with a drama, saw him passing by and suddenly called out to him, “Hey, this student.”
Ji Mingxia turned his head to look at the managing auntie.
The managing auntie looked at the card she was holding, then looked at Ji Mingxia, then waved at him.
Ji Mingxia walked over in confusion.
“Have you lost a campus card?” The managing auntie said.
Ji Mingxia shook his head. “No.”
“Then what’s your name?” the auntie asked.
“Ji Mingxia.” Ji Mingxia replied.
The managing auntie looked at the card in her hand again, comparing it with Ji Mingxia.
Ji Mingxia also took a look at what was in the managing auntie’s hand. Because he was standing outside the window, he couldn’t see what she was holding in her hand clearly, and could only see a little blue in the corner, which seemed somewhat familiar.
The next moment, the managing auntie handed the card to Ji Mingxia: “Didn’t you lose this?”
Ji Mingxia took the card and looked at it, and then froze in the next second.
It was a high school campus card with slight wear on both sides, so it was obvious that its owner had used it often.
Although there was no special mark on the front or back, nor was there a name written on it, Ji Mingxia recognized this card at once. It was his campus card.
No it wasn’t his, but the campus card the Ji Mingxia of the novel world used!
Why was this card here?
Ji Mingxia’s heart started beating fast and his voice trembled a little as he asked, “Auntie, where did you get this card?”
“A student handed it to me, oh, he was really handsome!” The managing auntie suddenly looked past Ji Mingxia and said with a smile, “Look, there he is.”
Ji Mingxia turned around and saw Yu Ning standing by the door.
The light from outside shone in, casting a soft layer of light on him.
At the moment, he was looking at Ji Mingxia with a gentle expression.
This was the person he had longed for! Ji Mingxia’s lips trembled slightly, but in the end, he said nothing and rushed over to hug him tightly.
The setting sun fell on them, stretching the silhouette of the two embracing figures.
The evening breeze blew gently, and the leaves along the path were rustled in the wind.
Summer was here.
Damn I actually laughed at the passage about the institute never noticing him and literally having nothing to do with saving the world. All they did was be pointless and harm people for the so-called greater good
