The Heartthrob Protagonist Just Wants To Monopolize Me Chapter 65

‘I trust you, so I will choose to trust him only because you do.’

Ji Mingxia was stunned, and in the next instant, his heart pounded heavily.

He turned his face away in a panic, his head filled with the sound of his frantic heartbeat.

Just when Ji Mingxia was at a loss for words, he heard Yu Ning say, “Let’s go eat.”

With that, Yu Ning took Ji Mingxia’s hand and led him back.

It was so dark around that Ji Mingxia could not clearly see the road ahead, so Yu Ning took him by the hand and they walked back to the spring.

The spring was clear and the water reflecting the moonlight stood out among the trees.

As Ji Mingxia sat down, Yu Ning stepped aside and switched on his torch, which served as a light source.

They had packed two strong torches for outdoor use, but they hadn’t used it much before because they weren’t sure how long they would be in the mountains.

Now that Li Youzi was dead and the other Blood Red Ring was retrieved, they would go back down the mountain to the city tomorrow so there was no need to conserve supplies.

The two torches were stacked together, and the light shone on the tree trunks. Some of it refracting back, making the surroundings much brighter.

According to the plan, Ji Mingxia and Yu Ning were supposed to eat in the evening, rest after dark, and pack up and leave the mountain at dawn tomorrow.

But Pei Yuan’s appearance disrupted their plans. It was now after seven o’clock, and no one had even had a drop of water.

Ji Mingxia’s attention was on Pei Yuan, so he didn’t feel anything earlier.

Only when he sat down to prepare dinner did he realise that he was starving.

While he and Yu Ning were preparing dinner, Bao Guangyuan and Pei Yuan were standing not far away, each fixing and adjusting their state.

As the outer packaging of the food was opened, the aroma gradually wafted out.

Bao Guangyuan moved his nose and sniffed for a while before getting up and walking around uncomfortably, then he turned away and didn’t look in Ji Mingxia and Yu Ning’s direction.

Pei Yuan was not so affected, but it could be seen that he had spent two days in the forest. He looked winded and tired.

Ji Mingxia took stock of the supplies and found a fair inventory.

According to the original plan, he and Yu Ning would eat today and tomorrow, and then they would be able to finish it all and go back in one piece.

Now with the addition of Bao Guangyuan and Pei Yuan, the four of them had to share the food. Although each of them ate less than average, it was enough to make ends meet.

Ji Mingxia took his backpack and moved over to Yu Ning’s side to discuss a few things with him in a low voice.

Yu Ning then glanced at Pei Yuan and Bao Guangyuan not far away.

Ji Mingxia was completely wary when they first met Bao Guangyuan and Meng Xinyi. Although he was willing to share some of the food with them, he didn’t treat them as trusted companions.

Of course, the subsequent events confirmed that it was best not to challenge humanity when two strange teams meet in extreme circumstances.

But somehow, Ji Mingxia’s vigilance disappeared when he met Pei Yuan.

Bao Guangyuan had teamed up with them for so long, and had only been given the opportunity to get some of their food today, while Pei Yuan had just shown up and was able to get the same treatment as Bao Guangyuan.

Although Ji Mingxia’s explanation showed that there was nothing to be wary of, it was also clear that he treated Pei Yuan differently from the others.

Yu Ning sensed this and he looked at Ji Mingxia who was looking at him apprehensively. He looked at him calmly and said, “Okay, you make the decision.”

Having obtained Yu Ning’s permission, Ji Mingxia immediately called Bao Guangyuan and Pei Yuan over.

Bao Guangyuan was already starving. Seeing Ji Mingxia and Yu Ning preparing dinner made his stomach rumble madly, so as soon as Ji Mingxia called him, Bao Guangyuan knew that it must be good news.

He overcame his fear and dragged Pei Yuan to come along with him.

Once the two sat down, they saw Ji Mingxia bring out the food as he said to them, “Yu Ning and I were afraid of starving so we brought a lot of food with us. We have no worry of running out of food now so do you guys mind eating with us?”

Bao Guangyuan’s eyes instantly lit up, “Can I eat too?”

Ji Mingxia nodded, “If you don’t mind.”

“Of course I don’t mind.” Bao Guangyuan hurriedly said.

Ji Mingxia looked at Pei Yuan.

Pei Yuan looked at the colourful and aromatic array of food and was just about to politely refuse when he was interrupted by Bao Guangyuan, who said, “Go ahead and eat, the sandwiches that Mingxia and Yu Ning brought are delicious. They have egg yolks and meat which are tasty and filling ……”

Bao Guangyuan thought about how he would be able to return to the city tomorrow, and he couldn’t help but say: “Mingxia, where did you buy your sandwiches? There are so many and so delicious. The freshly made ones must be more fragrant.”

“We got them at the Quanzhuang hotel and added small fillings. Yu Ning and I asked the shop assistant to add more fillings, and that’s why each sandwich is so big.” Ji Mingxia said.

“Good then, it just so happens that I have to go back to the hotel ……”

As the two talked, they unconsciously discussed the delicacies at Quanzhuang hotel.

With that interruption, Pei Yuan had no way to refuse.

He was the only one among them who had stumbled into the forest. So he had been mucking around for two days without preparation.

At least Bao Guangyuan had compressed biscuits and wild fruits on him. Pei Yuan had no supplies, had gotten lost, and ate whatever he saw. So one could say he had been eating wild grass for days.

When Ji Mingxia handed over the sandwiches, Pei Yuan didn’t say anything more. He whispered a word of thanks, and then joined the others in unpacking and eating.

Ji Mingxia always felt that food was a passport to socialising.

If they all got together, ate, drank and chatted, everyone would become familiar with each other after the meal and soon become good friends.

However, this formula did not work with Yu Ning and Pei Yuan at all.

The four of them sat and dined together, and it was only him and Bao Guangyuan who were talking.

Yu Ning was naturally withdrawn and did not even look up except when Ji Mingxia was talking.

Pei Yuan was a little better, but he would listen to Ji Mingxia and Bao Guangyuan, and when he was not cued, he would not say much.

So, thanks to Bao Guangyuan’s presence, the meal was a little more harmonious.

After he had eaten and drunk enough, Bao Guangyuan became a little sleepy and got up to start tidying up his things and prepare to sleep.

As soon as he left, the atmosphere instantly cooled.

Yu Ning and Pei Yuan sat across from each other, and when Ji Mingxia talked to either one of them, the other would watch him silently, causing Ji Mingxia to feel uncomfortable in everything he did.

Ji Mingxia felt envious of Bao Guangyuan who was happily making his bed after eating and drinking to his fill.

At a time like this, it would be better to be a passerby. Being a supporting role with a mission was  too unsuitable for him!

Thinking of this, Ji Mingxia inexplicably remembered the original owner’s unknown ex-boyfriend. He looked at Pei Yuan who was looking at him gently and a thought flashed in his mind. The idea that he had let go before was finally caught at this moment.

He suddenly understood what Pei Yuan meant when he said that paragraph.

—“I should have said sorry to you for the way I handled that incident back then. It was not quite right.”

—“I only thought that you were too young and should not decide on your future so early. Now that I think about it, I was indeed too impulsive at that moment and I should have communicated with you properly. Are you still together?”

Back then meant two or three years ago, when “Ji Mingxia” was in junior high school.

—’Deciding on your future…are you still together?’

He linked the passages together and came to a realization.  Could it be that …… Pei Yuan met the original owner and his ex-boyfriend?

This speculation made Ji Mingxia shudder.

The original owner and his ex-boyfriend got together when they were so young?

Wouldn’t that be two junior high school students having an early love affair?

The twenty-year-old Pei Yuan had seen two junior high school boys fall in love early and possibly even doing something more out of the ordinary, so he couldn’t help but put a stop to it. As a result, things became inappropriate and it triggered backlash from the original owner instead?

Thinking of this, Ji Mingxia only felt unwell.

For a moment, he didn’t know whether to be surprised that the original owner had fallen in love early or that it was Pei Yuan who intervened in that matter.

But then Ji Mingxia reacted. The focus of this matter should not be there.

His identity as a love mentor was not only for Yu Ning, but also for Pei Yuan.

Pei Yuan had witnessed the original owner’s puppy love and didn’t think too well of it.

According to the original plot, the original owner and his ex-boyfriend eventually got back together and made it right, and he even used his example to constantly encourage Yu Ning and Pei Yuan.

In other words, the matter back then was a foreshadowing.

If he were to go through the plot normally, he would have told Pei Yuan that although he and his ex-boyfriend had separated, they could always meet and get together again, feeding Pei Yuan with positive energy of love.

Unfortunately, Ji Mingxia was not the original owner and he knew nothing about the original onwer’s past. When Pei Yuan made an inquiry, he didn’t react at all, and simply played dumb!

Thinking of this, Ji Mingxia was suddenly a little embarrassed.

He looked at Yu Ning and Pei Yuan in front of him. The two were still sitting face to face with cold expressions.

Ji Mingxia lowered his head in thought. The two of them were doing their own thing with no interaction.

It would be a miracle if they didn’t become enemies, let alone a couple.

Tonight, the four of them will be sleeping together, and they will be going down the mountain tomorrow.  They will probably need Pei Yuan to help with Yu Ning’s health issues.

The current state of these two was not good. Even if they don’t fall in love for the time being, they could at least start as friends.

Just when Ji Mingxia was getting worried, Yu Ning opened a package of snacks, sorted out a few of Ji Mingxia’s favourite snacks and brought them to him.

Ji Mingxia took them and Yu Ning put away the rubbish in front of Ji Mingxia, wrapping it up for storage.

Meng Xinyi had stolen Yu Ning’s backpack and they now had no special place to put the rubbish, so Yu Ning went back inside the tent and took down some of the bags that had previously held clothes. He then used these to carry the rubbish.

Because of his injury, Ji Mingxia had been well taken care of by Yu Ning over the past few days, so well that he was almost used to this kind of considerate care.

When he saw Yu Ning return into the tent, Ji Mingxia thought for a moment and said to Pei Yuan, “Although Yu Ning seems rather cold, he is actually a very attentive and gentle person. He is also kind and shy.”

Ji Mingxia’s words coincided with Bao Guangyuan’s return, and when he heard them, Bai Guangyuan instantly showed an expression as if he’d seen a ghost.

‘Was the Yu Ning being talked about the one he knew?’

Everyone suspects Pei Yuan, but I’m more interested in Mingxia’s ex… we don’t know his name or how and why they broke up, but their roommates mentioned once something about (og)Mingxia wanting to get back with him? I’m not sure, I haven’t paid attention at that time. And now we know that in og plot they indeed were going to end up together. And how they got to be in the first place and how are they supposed to get back together again? And how Pei Yuan is connected to this? Suspicious, very suspicious…
I’m ready to bet that this ex-boyfriend is more sus than Pei Yuan and author is just trying to trick us with Pei Yuan.
