SK Chapter 23

Lust 16

Wei Luyuan’s schedule was fully packed today.

She had two tutoring sessions to teach in the morning, and her part-time job at the university library would keep her busy from the afternoon all the way until evening. Even after work, she couldn’t afford to rest or slack off, because tonight there was “prey.”

This was what she had agreed upon with Xia Kui.

She couldn’t be late, couldn’t break the appointment, and couldn’t leave her hanging there alone.

So, after returning from the library, Wei Luyuan didn’t even have time to eat before going straight home.

She set down her backpack, stuffed her hunting tools into her guitar case, slung the case over her shoulder, and left the house. She originally planned to go meet up with Xia Kui directly, but just as she exited the neighborhood, a notification suddenly popped up on her phone.

Her cramped and cluttered room had a surveillance camera hidden among the miscellaneous junk in the corner that no one knew about.

Just moments ago, the surveillance app sent her a message saying someone was moving around inside the room.

Wei Luyuan opened her phone and took a look. In the black-and-white night-vision footage, there was the silhouette of an unfamiliar young man.

‘Who is this?’

Wei Luyuan frowned.

She stopped in her tracks and sent a message to Xia Kui:

.: [Sorry, sudden situation. Hunt cancelled.]

Xia Kui’s reply came quickly.

Summer: [Did something happen?]

Summer: [Okay, I’ll come back to you now.]

.: [Don’t come back yet.]

.: [Wait for my news.]

Xia Kui’s health was poor. She couldn’t be exposed to sunlight and could only move around at night.

To avoid unnecessary complications, she also couldn’t be seen by too many people.

She had suffered far too much injustice both in life and after death, and Wei Luyuan always felt she had let her down. So when unexpected situations like this arose, Wei Luyuan had to ensure her safety first.

Wei Luyuan hurried back.

She stood under the flickering, dying old lightbulb at the entrance of the apartment building, one moment swallowed by the darkness, the next exposed to the light, with a dark, heavy shadow pooling at her feet.

She set down her bag and pulled out a baseball bat with a long nail driven through the end.

Gripping the bat, she raised her eyes to look at the quiet, pitch-black stairwell. After a moment, she reached up and pressed down the brim of her cap.

The long nail at the tip of the baseball bat was stained with the rusted blood of who-knows-how-many people.

Wei Luyuan was already familiar with killing.

Anyone who dared trespass on her territory would not leave alive.

The situation turned out to be easier to handle than she had expected. After confirming that the young man was completely dead, Wei Luyuan sent a message to Xia Kui, telling her the matter was resolved, that everything was safe, and she could come back.

Xia Kui practically ran all the way here.

Her long hair was slightly disheveled, and she was breathing a little heavily. Upon seeing Wei Luyuan, she first grabbed her shoulders and looked her up and down several times. Only after confirming that the blood on her clothes wasn’t her own did she let out a sigh of relief, but she still had to ask one more question:

“Are you okay? What happened?”

“It’s nothing. A rat got into the house. It’s already taken care of.”

Wei Luyuan took off her cap, tidied her blood-stained hair, and then put the cap back on.

“…What?”

Xia Kui was somewhat bewildered.

“Why would a stranger suddenly show up in the house?”

“I don’t know. I found some copper coins and talismans on him. He probably wasn’t an ordinary person. We might have been marked. This place isn’t safe anymore…we need to leave quickly.”

Wei Luyuan’s voice was low and heavy.

She held up a string of copper coins, bells, and yellow talismans to show Xia Kui.

Logically speaking, things made of these materials should be very noisy, but she had shaken them around for quite a while, and not a single sound came out.

Xia Kui stared at the objects and furrowed her brows slightly, probably feeling there was something familiar about them. She instinctively reached out to touch them.

Seeing this, Wei Luyuan pulled her hand back, “Don’t touch. That guy seemed like a Daoist priest, or maybe some kind of spirit master? The things he carried probably aren’t good for you.”

“Mhm…” Xia Kui nodded and silently withdrew her hand.

Wei Luyuan casually tossed the bundle of items onto a nearby pile of clutter:

“I’ll get rid of this guy’s body as soon as possible, and then we’ll leave. I’ll take you somewhere else to lay low for a while.”

With that, Wei Luyuan strode into the room and headed straight for the corpse lying in a pool of blood beside the freezer.

With practiced ease, she pulled a cleaver from the clutter nearby.

Killing and dismemberment were second nature to her, and practice made perfect.

Wei Luyuan knelt on one knee, raised her arm, and brought the cleaver down on the corpse’s neck in one swing.

However, her physical strength had its limits. With one swing, no matter how sharp the blade, she couldn’t sever the cervical vertebrae in a single stroke.

So Wei Luyuan forcefully pulled the blade out. As the knife came up, blood splattered out, but she didn’t pay it much mind. She casually wiped the blood off her face without loosening her grip on the knife, and prepared to strike again.

But just as she raised her arm, her movement suddenly froze.

She seemed to suddenly realize something, and lowered her gaze again to look at the blood she had just wiped off with her left hand.

‘… Something’s wrong.’

This corpse had been lying here for at least twenty minutes, and she had made sure to strike the back of the head and neck a full five times with the spiked bat to ensure death. The wounds were numerous and deep, so the corpse should have been drained of blood by now.

So why was blood still splattering out during the dismemberment?

It was almost as if… she were cutting a living person.

Wei Luyuan’s expression turned ugly. She stared at the blood on her hand, unable to process what she was seeing.

It wasn’t until she caught a glimpse of something moving on the ground out of the corner of her eye.

Wei Luyuan’s pupils trembled, and her gaze slowly shifted downward.

“……!”

She stumbled backward two steps…

The fingers of the corpse on the ground were… moving.

“Heh…”

A hoarse, raspy breath suddenly rang out in the quiet room.

Like an old, worn-out bellows, or a leaky trumpet, the sound was rough and grating.

“Heh… haha…”

The breath turned into low laughter. In a short time, the sound grew clearer and clearer.

Enough to tell Wei Luyuan that this was not a hallucination.

“…Hahahaha… HAHAHAHA!!!”

The laughter rang out in the pitch-black, blood-soaked room, somewhat eerie and even spine-chilling.

The young man who should have long gone cold laughed hoarsely, even slowly raising his hand in the darkness and moonlight.

“…”

Wei Luyuan breathed heavily.

The incomprehensible sight before her caused her to panic, but she quickly steadied herself, gritted her teeth, and swung the cleaver down to sever his neck once and for all.

But for some reason, the blade refused to fall. It was as if some force behind her was restraining and pulling her back, wrestling against her, and no matter how she struggled, it was to no avail.

“Yuan…!”

Xia Kui heard the commotion in the room and came to check, but before she could even call Wei Luyuan’s name, she was struck silent by the scene before her…

Five crimson threads had shot out from somewhere, their ends piercing into Wei Luyuan’s limbs and the back of her neck, rendering her completely immobile.

Tonight was clear, and the cold moonlight streamed in through the dusty window frame with only fragmented shards of glass left, casting a layer of pale blue light over this small space.

Someone lay collapsed in the pool of blood, his slightly overgrown hair covering his face, making it impossible to see his features. He had his arm slightly raised, his fingers tracing faint patterns in the air.

And behind him, to the side, a crimson figure lay slumped in the corner, hair disheveled and motionless, looking like a lifeless corpse, yet exuding an aura that made Xia Kui feel a deep, bone-chilling dread from the very bottom of her heart.

‘Who is he…?’

This feeling was not unfamiliar to Xia Kui, because she had experienced it a few nights earlier by the nameless lake at Jingda.

Back then, that ghost had followed behind her, its icy aura raising goosebumps all over her body.

Compared to the cold, it felt more like a sense of oppression from another level entirely…like deer eating grass, and lions eating deer. But even the most ferocious pride of lions always has a king who can command and dominate the pack.

The ghost in crimson robes, with chains dragging from his limbs, gave Xia Kui exactly that feeling.

Her eyes widened and her mouth opened, but for a moment, she couldn’t even make a sound.

The wild, spine-chilling laughter slowly faded, ending with a couple of light coughs.

Xia Kui saw the man in the pool of blood suddenly clench his fingers, and at the same time, Wei Luyuan was yanked backward by some immense force. Her entire body was flung violently and slammed into the wall.

“Yuanyuan!”

Xia Kui cried out in alarm and rushed over to check on Wei Luyuan’s condition.

Wei Luyuan had fallen into a pile of clutter, with bits of plaster and dust showering down. She wasn’t seriously injured, but the impact hurt so much that she kept sucking in cold breaths.

She gripped the knife and tried to get up, but when she raised her eyes, her gaze froze.

Because she saw the young man get up from the pool of blood.

His raised right hand now wore a ring strung with copper coins, which clinked and jingled as they collided.

He reached up and touched the back of his own neck, moving it stiffly a couple of times before slowly straightening up.

The movement was accompanied by the sickening sound of bones cracking.

Moonlight fell upon him. His clothes were almost completely soaked in blood, and his hair was stuck together in strands. Apparently finding it a bit uncomfortable, he reached up and pushed his overly long bangs back, revealing his brows and eyes that were stained red with blood.

“Thank you,” The young man finally spoke, his voice still hoarse.

After a pause, he raised his eyes and said somberly: “I’m very satisfied.”

“…”

Wei Luyuan had no idea where those words came from, or what exactly he was satisfied with.

All she could feel was that Xia Kui beside her was trembling violently.

Her gaze seemed fixed on something, her eyes filled with terror.

Wei Luyuan followed her line of sight, but saw nothing particularly unusual.

Because what frightened Xia Kui was not visible to her field of vision;

At some point, the evil ghost in crimson robes that had been lying in the corner had risen.

He dragged his heavy chains over to stand behind the young man, one hand resting lightly on his shoulder. Slowly, he lowered his head, bringing his lips close to the back of the young man’s neck, as though lapping at the blood from his not-yet-fully-healed wounds.

As if sensing someone’s gaze, the ghost, still with his head buried against the young man’s neck, raised his eyes and looked over with a heavy stare.

Xia Kui saw it very clearly.

In that instant, a flash of crimson light passed through the ghost’s pale gray pupils.

……

Fu Sang, Fu San You, Zhuge Fu Sang… what a legendary, earth-shatteringly huge idiot!

Huo Wei was so furious her teeth itched, but she still had to keep cursing him in her head while hurrying over to Fu Sang’s location.

‘So, Jianyuan Residential Area…where exactly was Jianyuan Residential Area?!’

The place could be found on the map, so she could let that slide, but after getting to the neighborhood, then what? Which building, which apartment? He didn’t explain clearly, and when she called back, he didn’t answer. Did he expect her to knock on every door and ask, “Excuse me, does your house have a ghost, or have you seen any heterochromatic-eyed non-mainstream people around here?”

Huo Wei was fuming, stomping her high heels with a sharp “click-clack” as she walked.

She had driven here today, but her car was parked in the school parking lot, which meant she had to make a huge detour; from the barbecue restaurant at Jingda’s back gate and across most of the campus just to drive over and confront Fu Sang.

That only made her angrier.

‘What was all this about a real or fake Wei Luyuan? He couldn’t even explain himself clearly…why was he acting all cryptic?’

If Fu Sang couldn’t give her a reasonable explanation, she would make sure that deadbeat, who had stood her up just to avoid treating her to a meal, paid the proper price.

Huo Wei kept her head down and walked on.

It was almost curfew time, and there was hardly anyone around campus. As she passed by the nameless lake, she noticed someone sitting by the roadside. She didn’t pay much attention at first, but the closer she got, the more familiar he looked. When she took a closer look…

Wasn’t that Fu Sang’s handsome roommate?

The young man was sitting alone on the curb, head down, and looking at his phone. He didn’t seem to be in a very good mood.

If Huo Wei remembered correctly, this morning when he came looking for Fu Sang, he mentioned that his little girlfriend was mad at him.

So what was the situation now?

Had he been dumped for good?

Whether she felt schadenfreude or pity for the handsome guy’s plight, Huo Wei stopped as she passed him and waved: “Helloooo?”

Fang Zehao looked up and recognized her as the strange goth girl who was always hanging around that strange landmine-type guy.

“Little brother, what’s wrong?”

“?” Although the greeting was friendly, it left Fang Zehao baffled: “Do we know each other?”

“Can’t we get to know each other with a few words?” Huo Wei shrugged:

“Maybe you could tell me why you’re sitting here tonight, or, where does your little girlfriend live?”

Fang Zehao hadn’t planned on entertaining her, but he never expected to hear about Wei Luyuan from her mouth.

He looked at her warily, “What do you mean? Why are you asking about her? Why won’t all of you leave Yuanyuan alone?”

“To be honest with you, I don’t really know either.”

Huo Wei sighed, hands on her hips, “San You was talking about real and fake, something by the lake, something about files…I didn’t understand a word. He just said he was at Jianyuan Residential Area, but wouldn’t say where exactly. I’m guessing he might have gone to see Wei Luyuan. So I thought, aren’t you all tangled up with your lakeside Yuanyuan? So… where’s your Yuanyuan? Do you know where she lives? Is it in Jianyuan Residential Area? Which building, which apartment?”

After going around in circles, Huo Wei finally got back to the main point.

“I don’t know… She said she wanted me to have a drink with her today, but she suddenly took off halfway and didn’t tell me why…”

Fang Zehao was initially very happy, thinking he and Yuanyuan might finally make some real progress. But before they’d even left the school grounds, Yuanyuan glanced at her phone, then suddenly turned and ran off without a word. No matter how much he called after her, she never looked back once, and his WeChat messages went unanswered.

Fang Zehao didn’t know what she meant by that.

He didn’t know if it was a change of heart or something else.

He couldn’t figure it out and didn’t have the mindset to, so he just sat alone by the roadside in a daze, until this strange girl showed up.

At this point, Fang Zehao’s thoughts came full circle, “Wait… what did you just say? Are you saying Fu Sang went over to Yuanyuan’s house?!”

Huo Wei quickly waved her hands: “I never said that! That’s just a guess, a guess!”

“This guy is insane!”

Fang Zehao really felt it was outrageous. “No wonder Yuanyuan suddenly left… I need to call the police!”

“No way!!”

Just as Fang Zehao pulled out his phone, Huo Wei reacted like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, slapping his phone right out of his hand.

“What the hell, are you insane too?!”

Fang Zehao was truly devastated. He bent down to pick up his phone. One corner was chipped, and the screen was cracked in several places.

Huo Wei rubbed her hands together apologetically: “I’m sorry about that. I’ll get you the newest model tomorrow. But you really can’t call the police. It would cause us a lot of trouble.”

Fang Zehao felt like the world had gone mad, “Are you kidding me? Big sister, you and your friend are prying into my girlfriend’s address and are planning to break into her home. My girlfriend is probably in some kind of danger right now, and you won’t let me call the police, because calling the police would cause trouble for criminals like you?!”

Fang Zehao almost laughed in disbelief.

“First of all, you can call me ‘little sister,’ but not ‘big sister’…I personally don’t like being called that. Second, I never said Fu Sang actually went to your Yuanyuan’s place. Everything I just said was just me brainstorming. Also, we’re not criminals, but it’s really hard to explain this to you right now. Lastly, I need to go find Fu Sang. Can you please not call the police?”

“?”

Fang Zehao: “What if I insist on calling?”

Huo Wei weighed her options briefly, then decided, “Then we might as well go together!”

And that was how Fang Zehao ended up riding in Huo Wei’s car for no good reason.

He had absolutely no liking for his strange roommate’s strange friend, but he was determined to go see what Fu Sang was up to, and he felt a sense of duty to protect Wei Luyuan, so he accepted the “criminal’s” invitation and let her give him a ride.

Jianyuan Residential Area had been around for quite a few years. The buildings weren’t tall, but the gaps between them were narrow and there were many of them. Standing at the entrance with her hands on her hips, staring at the rows of residential buildings, Huo Wei felt like a warrior drawing her sword only to find nowhere to strike.

She sighed, looked around to make sure no one else was nearby before glancing at Fang Zehao beside her. “I’m starting to regret bringing you along.”

Fang Zehao shrugged, “I’m not sure I want to know why.”

“Because I’m about to use some special methods, and I hope I don’t scare you.”

With that, she didn’t wait for Fang Zehao’s reaction and pulled a talisman paper out of her pocket with two fingers, folded it a few times, and cupped it in her palm. After making a simple hand seal, she opened her hand and the talisman had turned into a tiny paper crane.

Fang Zehao was initially dismissive, until the paper crane fluttered its wings and took flight.

His eyes widened in shock:

“…Holy crap? What is this? Magic?!”

“An ignorant Muggle.”

Huo Wei was thoroughly enjoying showing off. She gestured at Fang Zehao, “Follow me.”

Huo Wei had set the target of the mourning bird to Fu Sang. In theory, as long as they followed the Mourning bird, they would find Fu Sang.

It was late at night, and the neighborhood was quite quiet. There were hardly any people on the road, only lights glowing from the windows of the upper floors.

Huo Wei kept her eyes on the Mourning bird as she ran, while also making sure the Muggle behind her was keeping up. Turning back, she saw Fang Zehao still dawdling in place and urged him:

“What are you standing around for? Don’t you want to protect your Yuanyuan…”

“BANG!”

Before she could finish her sentence, a loud crash from nearby interrupted her.

It sounded like something had exploded, accompanied by a crackling, shattering noise, as if a shower of glass had rained down.

Huo Wei looked toward the sound and saw that the glass window of the top floor of a nearby building had blown out entirely. It seemed like strong winds were howling inside, because she could see white curtains fluttering wildly out through the broken opening.

The Mourning bird was still circling in midair, searching for Fu Sang’s scent.

Huo Wei snapped her fingers and recalled it.

Fang Zehao walked over with his mouth hanging open, staring at the shimmering rain of glass blown out from that apartment:

“This, what is this now?”

He looked back at Huo Wei. “Where’s your bird?”

Huo Wei tossed the now-useless Mourning bird into Fang Zehao’s arms.

“Keep it as a souvenir… I think I know where your Yuanyuan lives.”

……

“……Thank you,”

Fu Sang stood up in the cold moonlight, reaching up to touch his neck and rotating his still somewhat stiff cervical spine, “I’m very satisfied.”

The pain of growth was many times more intense than the pain of death, leaving Fu Sang’s hands still trembling slightly.

His whole body was covered in sticky blood. Though it was all his own, it still made him feel a bit nauseous.

A cold presence pressed up against him from behind.

Fu Sang ignored him, letting him hold his shoulder, and the cold gradually crept closer, finally touching the skin of his neck.

Something brushed across his unhealed wound, stirring up a sharper wave of pain.

Fu Sang raised his hand, which was adorned with the Ghost Blood Whip, and made a grasping motion in the air.

From the darkness, a long nail wrapped in layers of talisman paper flew out like an arrow toward Fu Sang. As it traveled, it grew in size, and by the time it reached his hand, it had returned to its original form.

“Go.”

Fu Sang gripped the Snake Bone Nail, twirled it once in his hand, then used the sharp tip to slice open the skin of his own arm, letting it soak in his blood. He then pointed it at Xia Kui from across the space and coldly spoke two words:

“Kill her.”

The blood on the long nail spread upward like a spiderweb, slowly covering the yellow talisman paper and merging with the cinnabar markings on it.

After that, the top layer of talisman paper, as if summoned, slowly lifted at one corner.

Qi Changying’s body shuddered violently. His gray eyes were instantly flooded with crimson. His canine teeth morphed into sharper, more elongated ghost fangs, his long hair and robes stirred without wind, and an overwhelmingly dense and terrifying yin energy burst forth.

The windows of the room vibrated incessantly until, in a single moment, they shattered into thousands of fragments!

The cold air from outside rushed in, and the Crimson Evil shot toward Xia Kui like a hurricane.

A deep terror arose from the very core of Xiao Kui’s soul, making her scream out in fright and instinctively raise her arms to shield herself.

Seeing this, Wei Luyuan, though unaware of exactly what was happening, immediately raised her cleaver and stood in front of her.

But it didn’t do much good, because the ghost she couldn’t see passed through her like a chilling gust of wind, dragging its chains as it passed right through her, and seized Xia Kui’s neck, pinning her against the wall.

“…What did you do to her?!”

Wei Luyuan could only see Xia Kui pinned lifelessly against the wall, her face pale and contorted in agony, with traces of blood already seeping from her seven orifices.

She had no idea what tricks this resurrected young man had pulled. Gritting her teeth, she charged at him with the knife, swinging wildly with no technique whatsoever.

Fu Sang dodged the gleaming white blade in her hands, waiting for an opening to grab her wrist. With a firm twist and press, Wei Luyuan winced in pain and loosened her grip, and the cleaver clattered to the ground.

At the same time, the red-threaded copper coins from the Ghost Blood Whip came to life like serpents, slithering over Wei Luyuan and binding her tightly, the coins pressing into her vital points and rendering her unable to move.

“You’ve got quite a few friends living in your freezer. They are all decent people, willing to stay at your place for New Year’s and serve as your holiday provisions.”

Fu Sang raised an eyebrow slightly and curled his fingers. The Ghost Blood Whip instantly tightened, drawing a muffled groan from Wei Luyuan.

When he spoke again, his voice dropped low as he got down to business, “You can’t see ghosts, so there’s no way you’re affiliated with spirit masters. Who taught you the method of blood sacrifice for dead souls?”

Wei Luyuan gritted her teeth and stayed silent, her eyes fixed on Fu Sang in a glare.

Fu Sang raised an eyebrow again, and said unhurriedly and lazily: “I’ll give you one minute.”

With that, he leisurely twirled the Snake Bone Nail in his hand as he walked over to Xia Kui.

Blood was already trickling from Xia Kui’s eyes, nose, and the corners of her mouth. Fu Sang looked her up and down, then glanced at Qi Changying and commanded: “Let go.”

Qi Changying’s eyes were bloodshot, and he bared his ghost fangs at Fu Sang in a threat.

Without a moment’s hesitation, Fu Sang reinforced the seal on the Snake Bone Nail, then raised his hand and made a grasping motion. The long nail drove deep into Qi Changying’s left shoulder, pinning him to the wall.

Xia Kui was thus freed. She collapsed limply to her knees, trembling all over, clearly terrified.

Fu Sang looked down at her expressionlessly, grabbed her wrist, and dragged her over in front of Wei Luyuan:

“One minute is up.”

Fu Sang raised his hand, palm facing downward, and pressed it over Xia Kui’s head from a short distance.

All that remained on his hand from the Ghost Blood Whip were the five copper finger rings, but they still posed a massive threat to underworld spirits.

He stared at Wei Luyuan:

“Talk.”

“…Holy shit!”

No sooner had the words left his mouth than an earth-shattering curse erupted from the doorway.

“Fu Sang, what the hell are you do…”

Fang Zehao saw the scene inside the room and looked ready to charge in, but Huo Wei, quick as a flash, grabbed the back of his collar.

The words died in his throat, just as Fu Sang turned his head and said coldly, “Scram.”

The thick stench of blood hit him right in the face, and with Fu Sang standing against the light, that sudden glance made Fang Zehao’s skin crawl, and the rest of his words died in his throat.

Fu Sang frowned at Huo Wei: “Why did you bring him here?”

Huo Wei felt a bit guilty: “Well, I ran into him on the way. He was crying and begging to come find his Yuanyuan, and he wanted to call the police. I couldn’t just let him do that, so I brought him along. It’s better than having the police show up, right?”

Fu Sang let out a sneer. “Next time, keep your mouth shut and there won’t be any problems.”

Huo Wei stuck out her tongue, acknowledging her tendency of talking too much. She silently accepted the criticism, and ingratiatingly pulled out a talisman to set up a barrier formation around the room, ensuring no one could get in or out, before walking over.

“What’s the situation here? So you really weren’t just ditching me on purpose. Why the huge commotion? You even nailed the young general to the wall?”

“Long story.”

Meaning he couldn’t be bothered to explain.

But Huo Wei’s words did remind Fu Sang of something.

He gestured with his eyes toward Xia Kui: “Keep an eye on her.”

Then he turned and walked back to Qi Changying, brushing past Fang Zehao’s shoulder on the way without so much as a glance.

He walked straight back to the wall where Qi Changying was still pinned.

The Crimson Evil had his head lowered, his long hair covering most of his face, so Fu Sang couldn’t see his expression.

So he raised his hand, parted the cascading hair, and found Qi Changying’s chin, lifting his face. “Are you awake now?”

The blood red in Qi Changying’s eyes had already faded, and his ghost fangs had returned to normal.

He didn’t say anything, only nodded.

So Fu Sang released him, then took hold of the long nail lodged in his shoulder and pulled it out with force.

The long nail was wrapped in talisman paper and had been consecrated with Fu Sang’s own blood, so it wouldn’t truly harm Qi Changying’s fundamental essence.

So Fu Sang hadn’t been too concerned about it. But after pulling the nail out, he seemed to suddenly notice something. He stood there holding the nail without moving, his gaze growing deeper.

Qi Changying pressed a hand to the wound on his shoulder.

There was a dark, hollow hole there, but it neither hurt nor bled, and it healed quickly.

Then he looked at Fu Sang again…

“Fu Sang?”

Qi Changying called out to him with some uncertainty.

Fu Sang didn’t respond.

He lowered his head and quietly looked at his own left hand.

Blood was flowing down from his sleeve, sliding along his wrist to the joints of his fingers, then gathering into a drop that fell from his fingertip.

After a moment of absentmindedness, he raised his hand and touched his own left shoulder, the exact same spot where Qi Changying had just been pierced by the long nail.

As if suddenly realizing something, Fu Sang bent down and found a knife in the pile of clutter by his feet.

He barely hesitated. Raising his eyes, he gave Qi Changying a complicated look while using the blade to slice open his own palm.

Qi Changying had no idea what Fu Sang was doing, but a few seconds later, he furrowed his brows slightly and raised his own left hand.

Across his palm was a horizontal black bloodstain.

Exactly the same as Fu Sang’s wound.

Qi Changying was momentarily stunned and subconsciously looked at Fu Sang.

But Fu Sang had already tossed the knife aside. As if nothing had happened, he lowered his hand and concealed the wound in the shadows.

But from an angle no one else could see, he raised his eyes to look at Qi Changying, then lightly pressed his index finger to his lips…

Shhh.
